According to Bloomberg news, with the British brexit referendum in June this year, the business and consumer confidence index suffered a setback, and the growth of European car sales slowed down in June. The European Association of automobile manufacturers (ACEA), an industry association, said in a recent statement that the number of vehicle registrations in the EU and EFTA markets last month increased by 6.5% year-on-year from 1.51 million in the same period last year. June is the 34th consecutive month of sales growth in the European market, although its growth rate has continued to slow since March.
In the first half of this year, car sales increased by 9.1%, with a total sales of 8.09 million vehicles.
Last month, stimulated by the growth of market demand in the European Union, the sales volume of Renault and Fiat Chrysler increased, and other Asian auto brands and European luxury car manufacturers also achieved sales growth.
Among the top ten automakers in the region, Renault had a high growth rate in June. Driven by the sales of its main brands captur, kadjar and Espace, its overall sales surged by 20% year-on-year.
The vehicle registration volume of Fiat Chrysler increased by 13% year-on-year, mainly driven by the sales volume of its Fiat brand (a year-on-year increase of 14%), which has just launched a new Tipo small car. The sales of jeep models increased by 16% year-on-year, which also made many contributions to the sales promotion of Fiat Chrysler.
Among many Japanese automakers, Toyota and Lexus' sales increased by 6.7% year-on-year, while Nissan's sales fell by 2.9%. Hyundai and Kia increased their sales by 13% and 14% respectively.
